Skiptown Dog Walking Services Website Copy
Skiptown (formerly Skipper; formerly The Waggle Company) is a dog bar and park that also offers doggy daycare, boarding, grooming, and dog walking services. Prior to the pandemic, their dog walking service was booming. And while it’s slowly started to build back up, it’s bringing in only a fraction of the revenue it once was, and far less revenue than any of Skiptown’s other service lines. Knowing that the marketing could use a refresh, Skiptown brought me in to do a deep dive into the dog walking service line and rewrite the messaging to speak directly to potential clients more effectively. I interviewed and surveyed current Skiptown dog walking clients, clients of competitors, and was able to mind the most common and strongest pain points and desires of dog walking clients. (The human clients. I tried interviewing the dogs, but they just licked my face.) I rewrote all copy to speak directly to those pain points and desires, and make it clear to potential clients that no other company will take better care of their pup while they’re at work.

We know that it’s a big decision to let someone into your home and take care of your fur baby. And we don’t take that responsibility lightly. We redefined the dog walking service industry by creating a rigorous hiring and training process, and we only hire people who LOVE dogs. Plus we have a full-time support team and you’ll speak with our team before we ever enter your home.
The Purple People are hired employees
This is not the ride-share equivalent of the dog industry. We don’t contract out our dog walkers. (Ahem, Purple People.) We hire all team members as part-time or full-time W-2 employees, and we only bring them on board after they’ve passed 3 interviews and 2 background checks. We’re bonded and insured and we take full responsibility for every member of our team.
10 hours of classroom and field training
Each Purple Person receives over 10 hours of classroom and on-the-job training before performing their first solo visit. They learn about animal body language, play states and behavior, and emotional states, so that they’re always tuned into your pup’s mood and energy and can easily notice when something is off. They’re also trained to be 100% aware of their surroundings at all times so that they’re always ready for any situation that might arise.
Know and trust who enters your home
You’ll get to know the Purple People team before we enter your home. Before you schedule your first walk, you’ll set up a (free) consultation for you to tell us all about your pup and ask us any questions you have. We’ll tell you more about who we are, what the process is like, and get any details we need about how to best care for your pup. (Like which bush is their favorite to go potty on.) When a Purple Person arrives for the first visit, they’ll approach your pup in a calm and friendly way and give your pup plenty of time to say “hello” at their own pace.
Our walkers will do absolutely anything to make your pup happy
You know all of the ridiculous* things you do to keep your pup happy and comfortable? Like not getting up to go to the bathroom (even though you REALLY have to go) because they’re asleep in your lap and you don’t want to disturb them? Or that time you spend $60 on an 8-ounce jar of Manuka honey because you read that it can help strengthen your dog’s immune system? The Purple People will do equally ridiculous* things for your pup. They’ll come up with their own nicknames for your pup and jump through any hoop to make sure they’re happy.
*Ridiculous only to non-dog people. And honestly, aren’t THEY the ridiculous ones??
Come home to a happy pup and a calm home
We have one mission: To do everything we can to make sure you come home to a happy, cared-for pup so that when you walk through that door at the end of a long day, you can kick your shoes off, change into sweatpants, and snuggle onto the sofa with your pup for a relaxing evening. Here’s what we promise:
- We’ll always be a good steward of your home. We’ll clean up any messes your pup might have made, bring in the mail, water your plant babies if you wish, and we can even plug in the crockpot for ya.
- We’ll follow your instructions, no matter how detailed. (Actually, the more detailed, the better!) You can write anything from, “Charlie’s leash is on the kitchen counter. He just needs a walk around the block and some ear scratches,” to “As soon as you enter, unroll the yoga mat and do 5 sun salutations with Charlie. Roll up the yoga mat. Then put on Charlie’s leash. Leave the apartment and lock the door. Use the stairs to your immediate left. Walk 50 paces west and you’ll find Charlie’s favorite bush. That’s where he’ll pee.”
- We’ll let you know exactly how the visit went — and send you fridge-worthy photos. One of the BEST parts about our dog walking services? VISIT REPORTS! You’ll get one after every single walk. Your Skipper will write a summary of the visit including how your pup was when we arrived, potty info, what toy we played with, how long we snuggled, and any additional relevant information, like confirming that we brought in the mail or letting you know we found a scab on Charlie’s ear.
Give your new puppy plenty of potty breaks even when you’re at work

Getting a puppy is one of the most exciting, delightful, and adorable experiences a dog-lover can have. AND puppies need a lot of care and attention that older dogs don’t require.
Puppies can control their bladder for about one hour for every month of age. So if a puppy is 2 months old, they can hold it for about two hours.*
So you have the challenge of making sure they get outside to go potty as frequently as possible, and you need to teach potty training in general.

With Skiptown dog walking services, you can have a Purple Person come as often as you need to get your pup outside to do their business. This gives them the relief they need and reinforces good potty behavior! (And if they did have an accident in the crate, we’ll clean it up when we arrive.)
